Job description
 

We are looking for someone who keeps up to date on low waste living, knows our products, takes pride in whatever they do, carrying out everything to the highest standards, making sure the shop floor is shipshape ready for when our customers arrive. You'll do everything from receiving and handling heavy goods deliveries to dealing with enquiries and ensuring that our shelves are fully stocked with well-presented products. And, of course, you'll provide excellent customer service at all times by attending to customer needs in a prompt and friendly way. It's a really fast-paced environment, and everyone understands exactly what needs to happen to make the store a success - and gets on with doing it. There's a real family feel here, and we all pitch in as part of a close-knit team.
 

Position starts as a Kickstart position for 6 months with possibility of extension after programme ends.
 

Job requirements:
 

The role of a Shop Assistant involves a range of tasks, including advising and serving customers, moving and replenishing stock, safely handling our bulk dispensers while refilling them; carrying out housekeeping activities; handling cash and card transactions according to set procedures; managing number of customers inside store to ensure social distancing according to current government guidelines on COVID-19 safety. You may be expected to work in any area of the store to support the wider team as required, and to maintain the necessary business dress and hygiene standards.

Requirements and experience:
 

  • You must be aged between 18-24

  • You must apply via Job Centre Plus

  • You must be on Universal Credit

  • Interest in sustainability, low waste living and environmental issues is desirable

  • Availability to start immediately

  • Right to work in the UK


Contract length: 6 months

Part-time hours: 25 hours per week
Pay: National Minimum Wage

After 19/07 face covering encouraged; customers are required to use the hand sanitiser provided upon entry.
